BUTTERY FLOUR TORTILLAS

Welcome back family!

Today I made some flour tortillas. I tried to recreate my aunt's recipe.

I hope you enjoy them!

Yields: 12 Tortillas

Ingredients:

3 cups ALL PURPOSE FLOUR

1 tsp BAKING POWDER

2 tsp SALT

1 stick UNSALTED BUTTER

1 cup WARM WATER

Instructions:

1-Add the FLOUR, BAKING POWDER and SALT to a mixing bowl. Mix and set aside.

2-Melt the butter in the microwave per your microwave settings. Mix with the warm WATER. Pour it over the flour mixture.

3-Mix the flour mixture by hand inside the bowl. Once the dough becomes sticky take it out of the bowl and place it over your counter surface. Keep kneading until it no longer sticks to your hands but is still soft enough that if you press down your fingerprint should remain on the dough.

4-Roll the dough into a ball. Return it back to the mixing bowl. Cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

5-Uncover the dough ball and separate it into smaller tortilla dough balls. Approximately 50 grams each. Place each dough ball back to the mixing bowl. Cover them with plastic wrap. Let them rest for 10 minutes.

6-Preheat a comal or cast iron skillet over medium heat.

7-Roll out each dough ball using a rolling pin.

8-Place the tortilla on the comal. Flip it once it starts to bubble then flip again after approximately a minute or once the tortilla is golden brown at the bottom.
