Hello!
Hello my name is Lety. My family is from Mexico. Dad is from the state of Jalisco and mom from Zacatecas. I was born in Guadalajara. We immigrated to the United States when I was five years old.
As an immigrant child growing up in Chicago in the 1970's, I recall how my family's language and food made me feel different somehow when compared to my classmates. I feel blessed to have had parents who never let go of their roots. Through their cooking and cultural traditions, I grew up loving the richness and complexities of my Mexican culture and cuisine which I proudly share today with my own family and you, my extended food family.
Cooking has always been a huge part of my life. Learning to cook from mom and dad are some of my fondest memories. As far back as I can remember, I can see mom and dad in the kitchen cooking up some very tasty traditional Mexican dishes which we all till this day enjoy! Cooking has always been a big part of their life as well. Dad owned a small panaderia in Mexico then upon his retirement he ran a modest restaurant in the United States.
To me food is family because it brings a family together. I am very excited to be able to share some of my recipes with you because that's what family's do, we share. I really hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Wishing you a beautiful day,
Lety
